Many tarpon fishermen come here to test
their angling skills on the powerful silver-sided giants that congregate
in great numbers in the spring while on their migratory run to the
continental shelf of the Gulf of Mexico. In winter months we have dive
boat/tour operators right here in the parks to take you on a real,
heart-pounding adventure to observe the West Indian Manatee in its natural
habitat. |

If the wildlife moves you, the Homosassa
area has much to offer. Many varieties of birds can be observed at Florida
RV Resorts and campgrounds including red-breasted hawks, osprey and
herons, just to name a few. Across from TURTLE CREEK RV RESORT, is the

interesting zoo-type setting with animals that are native to this area
(with one exception, Lucifer the 1-1/2 ton hippopotamus) and many
sideshows, narrated by members of the park staff, to help you to better
understand the roles these animals play in nature. |
